Warhammer 40k: Darktide Closed Beta Kicks Off October 14th

The first-person shooter Warhammer 40K: Darktide will be getting a closed beta on October 14th running until the 16th, which was announced by studio Fatshark. Players can sign up for the beta on the official website by submitting an email address. Don’t forget to fill out the form sent via email. Those invited will be able to check out the game prior to its November 30th release date.

What is Darktide?

In case you missed it, Darktide is a hack and slash as well as first-person shooter RPG. Set on the planet of Atoma Prime, Tertium is a place ruled by the Imperium of Man. Follow the dark agents of Nurgle, the Chaos God of Pestilence and Decay, as they begin their descent into the Hive City. Playing as the Inquisition, it’s your job to stop the growing invasion of Chaos. While not the ideal recruit for the role, someone’s got to do it.

Players will have customisation options such as choosing your initial sentence will also determine some of the cosmetics your character will adorn. Players can choose from classes Ogryns, Zealots, Psykers and Veterans. Darktide will feature a simple loadout system, consisting of a Primary Weapon, a Secondary Weapon, and three Gadgets. Using a hybrid combat system which integrates both melee and ranged weapons, giving you a choice of how you want to slay Nurgle and their hellspawn. Want to know more about Darktide? Check out our impressions and everything we know so far.

Darktide will use a hybrid combat system, letting you use both melee and ranged weapons to take on the Chaos.

Welcome to the Plague

This includes plague zombies, humans that have fallen prey to Nurgle’s plagues and now take the form of resurrected enemies. Then you have the Chaos cultists, those who have decided to join the ranks of Nurgle. They’re not any better off as they also have diseases and other gory afflictions. But they still have their minds and abilities, which makes them tougher to kill.

Zealots on the other hand in Darktide are former workers of construction, using axes and hammers as their weapons of choice. The worst of the worst are Nurgle’s plague-bearing army, foot soldiers that are daemons made from tormented souls. Wielding diseased knives and guns that spurt bile, lovely. Lastly taking on the form of a pile of mutated flesh and tenacles, the Chaos Spawn of Nurgle has taken decay to a new level, being so corrupted. I think it will be a lot of fun fighting horrendous enemies, using both hammers, guns and more to take them down in online co-op.

The spread of decay and corruption has mutated humans into zombie-like beings in Warhammer 40k: Darktide. Let’s shoot some space zombies!

Warhammer 40K: Darktide will be released on November 30, 2022, for PC via Steam. The closed beta takes place from October 14th to 16th, so be sure to sign up in order to have a chance to get a spot.
